Emergency / Refugee Programmes

Since 2016,

SOS Children’s Villages has supported more than 320,000 people in cases of refugee crises, natural disasters, and other emergencies.

Recently, they assisted those affected in Thessaly and Evros, and from the very beginning, they responded to the urgent needs arising from the war in Ukraine, supporting 800 displaced children and mothers, and providing shelter to many of them in their Villages.

  • Legal assistance
  • Greek & English language lessons
  • Academic support
  • Preparation of children for entry into public schools
  • Computer lessons
  • Creative and psychomotor activities
  • Social services
  • Workshops to develop social skills for women and children
  • Professional support (capacity building)
  • Shelter (Reception Centers for Unaccompanied Minors)

We have hosted and supported 312 children, achieving:

  • 100% school attendance
  • 80% successful family reunifications
  • High asylum acceptance rates
  • Low rates of informal relocation or delinquent behavior

We continue to support over 1,200 children and their families nationwide.
